Get to know Your Photographer Friday

Hello!

Is it already Friday again? The weeks go by extra quickly during the summer, I swear. I’ll just jump right into this week’s questions.

Q: Where am I from?

A: I was born in Tawas, Michigan. My family spent 10 years in western Wisconsin before moving back to the mitten. I lived in the Mount Pleasant area for about 13 years before moving to Grand Rapids. I have to say out of all the places I’ve lived, I love Grand Rapids. It’s a little city that doesn’t have that much traffic and there is so much to do. And it’s not too far from Lake Michigan. I love it!

Q: Favorite place I’ve been to?

A: My husband and I traveled to Nice, France for our honeymoon, and I am itching to go back. It was so beautiful. I also traveled to Italy and Malta when I was a teenager and that was such an amazing experience. Basically those Mediterranean spots are all my favorite.

Q: Canon/Nikon/Sony???

A: I am a Canon girl through and through. Although I believe it really doesn’t matter what type of equipment you use. It’s really all up to the artist or photographer to create beautiful work…. NOT the camera.

Q: Do I have a favorite session?

A: Ooooh. That’s a hard question because I really have worked with so many beautiful couples and families. I think I more have favorite moments from different sessions or weddings. One wedding that stand’s out was my friends’ Brandon and Nick’s wedding. I think everyone’s emotions were running high that day because it was so special. It wasn’t so long ago that gay marriage wasn’t a thing… it wasn’t recognized by the state. It was just such an honor to be apart of their big day and capture their love.

Other favorites… I have worked with multiple parents who had to wait so long to hold their baby in their arms. Capturing their journeys to baby is such an honor and so special.

And then the firsts… I still remember my first wedding… my first newborn session… all these firsts in the new studio. It’s been a lot of fun, and a lot of growth.

That’s it for this week!

Cheers!
