Motherhood Mini Sessions | Spring 2021 » Dana Walsh Photography

The first Mini Sessions in the studio were a success! Thank you for everyone who participated. I am always so humbled by the support and kindness clients and friends show me.

Last year I had to cancel Motherhood Minis due to Covid-19, so I wanted to make these extra special for mamas this year. I picked up flowers and ferns from Countryside Greenhouse. Used my old prop door, added additional greenery. I wanted Secret Garden vibes but inside!

In the photography community, I am always seeing beautiful backdrops/set-ups for weddings and couples, and also for Christmas/ Holidays for families and kids. I don’t see this as frequently created for moms or mommy-and-me sessions. I would like to see more of this. Moms deserve to be celebrated, to feel beautiful and to have memories to look back on where they are in the frame with their children!

I can’t help but wonder how much these pictures are going to mean to our kids when they’re older. As I go through my childhood albums, I almost always pause to look at the pictures with my parents included… almost studying them. They are much younger, and look so happy in so many of them. They are some of my favorites. And one day that will be my child, looking through his albums, pausing at the images with his mama holding him, tickling, chasing after him… He won’t remember how tired I was, or that most days the house was a mess, he’ll remember just how much he was loved and looked after. I wish the same for everyone that I have the honor of photographing.
